House Boat or Yacht for Your Abu Dhabi Celebration?
Choosing between a house boat and a yacht for an Abu Dhabi celebration becomes much easier when you start with the guest list, budget and location. Both can create a memorable time on the water, but the fleet includes very different capacities and prices. Your celebration may suit a 40-guest house boat near the Corniche, a small yacht for an intimate birthday, or a boat departing from Saadiyat Island.
Start with your guest count
Capacity is the most practical first filter. For larger birthday parties and family gatherings, the House Boat Luxury M1 and House Boat Luxury M2 each accommodate up to 40 guests. The King House Boat and Lavy Luxury Yacht each accommodate up to 30 guests, while the Miss Kim House Boat also accommodates 30.
For groups of 20 to 25, consider the Haya House Boat for up to 20 guests, the 90 Ft Saadiyat House Boat for up to 20, or the Princess Yacht for up to 25. Smaller celebrations have several choices: the 62 Ft Tecno Yacht accommodates 18, the 68 Ft Super Yacht 16, and Marina Villa, Maya Luxury Boat and Al Maharia S each accommodate 15.
For a close group, the SNR Luxury House Boat and Mangosta Luxury Yacht are each listed for up to 12 guests. The Shark Yacht, 40 Ft Birthday Yacht and 55 Ft Luxury Yacht each accommodate 10, while Panda 1 Luxury Yacht is listed for up to 8 guests. Always choose according to the listed capacity rather than trying to fit in extra guests.
Compare the starting prices
The minimum charter is two hours, and every listed two-hour package includes the cake and deck decoration. This is important when comparing a house boat with a yacht because the package is more than a boat-only rental.
For a lower starting price, Marina Villa is AED 1,500 for two hours and Panda 1 Luxury Yacht is AED 1,200. The 40 Ft Birthday Yacht is AED 1,598, Al Maharia S is AED 1,800, Haya House Boat is AED 2,000 and Shark Yacht is AED 2,098. These options suit smaller groups and shorter celebrations.
For larger groups, House Boat Luxury M1 is AED 2,500 for two hours and House Boat Luxury M2 is AED 2,700. King House Boat and Lavy Luxury Yacht are each AED 3,500, while Miss Kim House Boat is AED 6,898. At the higher end, Mangosta Luxury Yacht is AED 11,500 for two hours. The full Abu Dhabi fleet lets you compare each capacity, location and package price.
Consider the extra time
Two hours is the minimum charter, but an extra hour may be useful if you want more time for cake, photographs, conversation and views around the Abu Dhabi coastline. The additional-hour rate depends on the selected boat. It is AED 500 for Marina Villa, AED 750 for Haya House Boat, AED 1,000 for House Boat Luxury M1 and AED 1,100 for House Boat Luxury M2.
Other examples include AED 1,500 for King House Boat and Lavy Luxury Yacht, AED 1,599 for Princess Yacht and the 90 Ft Saadiyat House Boat, AED 799 for Shark Yacht, and AED 549 for the 40 Ft Birthday Yacht. Remember that this rate applies only beyond the package hours. It is not a replacement for the two-hour minimum.
Match the boat to the setting
Most of the listed fleet departs from or is associated with Abu Dhabi Corniche, making it a natural choice for guests who want a central city setting. A Corniche celebration can place your gathering near familiar views of the waterfront and provide a practical starting point for guests travelling from across Abu Dhabi.
If Saadiyat is part of your plan, the 90 Ft Saadiyat House Boat is listed at Saadiyat Island. This can suit a celebration built around the island’s atmosphere, with the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat coastline nearby. Other possible marina locations in Abu Dhabi include Al Bateen Marina, Yas Marina and Zayed Port. The exact departure point should be checked when planning the booking.
Think about the celebration style
A house boat may be a sensible starting point when you are organising a larger family birthday, a mixed-age gathering or a group that needs a higher guest capacity. House boat options range from the 20-guest Haya House Boat to the 40-guest Luxury M1 and M2.
A yacht may suit a smaller birthday, a more private gathering or a compact guest list. The fleet includes options from Panda 1 Luxury Yacht for up to 8 guests to the 30-guest Lavy Luxury Yacht. The right choice is not simply house boat versus yacht. It is the specific boat, capacity, package price and location that fit your plan.
Plan the food, cake and activities
Since the two-hour package already includes a cake and deck decoration, you can focus your extra budget on other details if needed. Available add-ons include a Mix Fruits Platter for AED 100, Vanilla Cake for AED 150, Chocolate Cake for AED 150, and Decoration & Balloons for AED 150. Custom Cake options from Starter through Showstopper are available at a price on request. You can also review the custom cake options and yacht decoration service.
For refreshments, the available choices include water, juices and soft drinks. Food add-ons include Mix Grill at AED 100 with a two-meal minimum and Seafood at AED 150 with a two-meal minimum. For an active celebration, one-hour Jet Ski is AED 500, while a one-hour Donut Ride and Banana Boat are each AED 550. See the Abu Dhabi water sports service for planning details.
A simple decision checklist
- Count your guests and stay within the listed capacity.
- Choose the two-hour package first, then add an hour only if your schedule needs it.
- Compare the total package price, not just the boat type.
- Choose Abu Dhabi Corniche, Saadiyat Island or another listed marina based on guest convenience and your preferred views.
- Confirm which food, drinks, decoration or water-sports extras you actually need.
In short, choose a house boat when capacity and a group-friendly layout are your main priorities, and consider a yacht when your guest list is smaller or you have a particular yacht size or style in mind.
